The second album in my Top Forty after Forty is a compilation, Stains on a Decade by the relatively unknown band Felt. While I will generally try to steer clear of compilation albums, Felt is a special exception due to their rarity. Felt is one of those bands that has a small, die-hard following.
Cherry Red Records has been re-releasing most of the Felt collection. Absolute Classic Masterpieces is also an excellent compilation and deserves a listen. Felt is best known for the song Primitive Painters, on which Elisabeth Frasier (Cocteau Twins) sings backup. For me, Primitive Painters has become like Stairway to Heaven to Led Zep fans. I’ve listened to it a little too much.
If you like Belle and Sebastian, you should enjoy Felt. And, if you’re wondering, all of my Top Forty After Forty will not be from the eighties.|||108483878048354621|||Felt: Stains on a Decade
