2/27/2005 09:57:00 PM|||Britt|||Watching the Academy Awards is an odd thing. There is no excitement. The live music is a long commercial break to get something done. It lasts too long yet there is not enough time for people to say something. The women have difficulty walking.
But I watched. Not all of it. Not with a two-year-old in the house. I do find it somewhat inspiring since I am writing screenplays. It's great to fantasize about how stupid I would make myself look if I am ever on that stage accepting an Oscar.
When it's over, you feel slightly used. Not only does Hollywood get you to pay good money to watch movies, they take up the better part of a Sunday getting you to watch actors and directors thank their families, agents, managers, publicists, lawyers, and each other.
