How $30 bought me some trouble

A few years ago, Jason Kottke asked readers to become micropatrons of his site in order to attempt full-time blogging for a year. Being a reader, I sent $30 bucks his way, along with a link to my blog (then with Blogger).

Years pass, and I become interested in online identity. I had long since abandoned that old blogspot site, and imported the posts into this Wordpress blog hosted at Dreamhost. I thought little of abandoning the blogspot blog since the URL had nothing to do with my name. Boy, was I wrong about that.

Bumping down Bell

As I’ve written about before, I made the unfortunate mistake of deleting an old Blogspot blog instead of redirecting it to this blog. Fortunately, the person (bot) who took over the blog gave it the title of a famous inventor and not some sleazy celebrity. The blog shows up in the top ten results of a Google search on my name, so I’ve spent some time over the last couple weeks trying to bump it off the the top ten results. It’s the only Blogspot entry that shows up, which is weird because I created a Blogspot blog in my own name.
